Alease Goodman

November 6, 1935 ~ June 15, 2017 (age 81) 81 Years Old

Pastor Alease Ocean Goodman was born in Clio, South Carolina on November 6, 1935 to the late Zeffie and Pearl Thomas. Pastor Ocean Goodman departed her life peacefully on June 15,2017 at her home in Bennettsville, South Carolina surrounded by family and close friends.

Pastor Ocean Goodman was educated in the Marlboro County School system. She worked several jobs, which was at BVD/Anvil Knitwear for over 20 years, Oak River Mills for 15 years, and Marlboro County Counsel on Ages for 15 years. When she retired she volunteered at the Helping Hands until her health begin to fail.

After the death of her oldest son in 1972 she gave her life to Christ at the age of 36 at the Old Clio Church in Clio, South Carolina. As she grew in Christ, God led her to fur-fill her purpose and accept her calling as a Prophet and Pastor of Faith Deliverance Holiness Church in Clio, South Carolina. Pastor Ocean Goodman was faithful and dedicated to the ministry.

She always said that she would not allow the devil to take another one of her children without a fight. She spent many restless days and nights praying for her family and many others. She started her own church in her back yard until she started her present church Faith Deliverance Holiness Church where she gave many pastors their start with God's guidance. Even on her death bed she was praying and prophesying to all that came to see her.

She married Wilbert Goodman Sr. in August of 2002. She was preceded in death by her first husband Legrant Ocean, her son Richard Crone Ocean, a brother Douglas Thomas, and a sister Mildred Hayes-Pegues.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories her husband Wilbert Goodman Sr. Two daughters Betty Ocean Clio, SC, Eleanor Cook, Clio, SC. Three sons Thomas Sr. (Abigail) Ocean, Marion SC. Michael Ocean, Washington DC, Frederick (Paulette) Ocean, Bennettsville, SC. Two Brothers Luther Sr. (Mildred) Thomas, Clio, SC and Pearlie Howard Sr., Clio, SC whom she raised from birth as her own. One Sister- in- Law Clara Ocean, Bennettsville, SC Eight step children, Wilbert Jr.(Stephanie) Bennettsville, SC, Willie (Linda) Goodman, Clio, SC, Shirley (Michael) Johnson Bennettsville, SC, Theo (Pearl) Goodman Bennettsville, SC, Boyd (Demetra) Goodman, Bennettsville, SC, Linda (Shelton) Stanton, Bennettsville, SC, Eleanor (Andrew) Simmons, Bennettsville, SC, Little Wilbert Goodman Jr. High Point, NC, Thirty-Eight, grandchildren, Thirty Eight, great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. A host of nieces, nephews and friends. A special friend Minster Hattie Blackmon. A special thanks to Mrs. Johnny Mae Anderson, Bettye Gillespie, Vera Davis, and Stephanie Goodman for being great friends and care takers for her in her last days.

The family is receiving friends at 111 Wearing Street, Bennettsville.
