Carolyn Collins

December 18, 1961 ~ February 1, 2017 (age 55) 55 Years Old

Mrs. Carolyn Collins, daughter of Mrs. Queen E. McClean and stepdaughter of the late Mr. Melvin McClean, Jr. was born on December 18, 1961 in Marlboro County.  She was united in holy matrimony to Albert J. Collins in December of 1979.  This union was blessed with two children.  She was a member of St. Matthew Baptist Church prior to joining her husband during their military service.  


Mrs. Collins received her Bachelor of Science degree from Bluefield College in May 2008.  She serviced the government as a Budget Analyst for a total of 35 years.  As a Trustee of Colossian Baptist Church, she served on the Usher’s Board and also played a vital role in both Black History and Breast Cancer Awareness along with a host of other influential events.  She departed this life on February 1, 2017 at her residence in Waldorf, Maryland.


She leaves behind to cherish her memory:  her loving husband,

Albert J. Collins of Waldorf, MD; two children: Dacharvrick D.

Collins , Sr . (Jasmine) of Pasadena, MD and Dadrian D. Collins (Jami) of Baltimore, MD; three grandchildren: Dacharvrick D.

Collins, Jr., Jerzey R. Collins, and Dakhari D. Collins all of Pasadena, MD; three sisters and one who preceded her in death:  the late Mary L. Clark of Thomasville, NC; Sharon Hubbard (Alonza) and Shenika Clark both of Bennettsville, SC; Cynthia Brown (Walter) of Laurinburg, NC, who selflessly cared for her sister before she departed this life.  Carolyn also has two brothers:  Pastor Leon Clark (Andrea) of Tustin, California and Gregory Clark (Janise) of Laurinburg, NC.  Her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law include:  Minister Betty McLaughlin (Sammie) of Clio, SC; Bobbie Grant (Willie) of Bennettsville, SC; Clayton Collins (Rose) of Carthage, NC; Debra Lomax (Ronald) of Baltimore, MD; and Frederick Collins (Stacey) of Morgantown, WV.  Her aunts and uncles include:  Gary Love (Cynthia); Odessa Dupree (Danny); King Love; Herbert Love (Lois); Mae Ema McLaughlin; and Kathleen Ferguson (Richard) all of Raeford, NC and Willie Clyde Love of Wagram, NC.  She also has a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

 

A funeral service will be held Friday, February 10, 2017 at 10am at Berea Baptist Convention Center, 1062 Highway 38 South in Bennettsville. Interment will follow in the Florence National Cemetery.

Due to a limited number of flowers accepted at the National Cemetery, the family respectfully request cards and monetary gifts in lieu of flowers.
