James Edward Bridges

James Edward Bridges (Lil Rock) was born November 8, 1946 to the late Kenny and Flossie Bridges. He married the love of his life Mary Neil Bridges on June 11, 1966. This union produced five beautiful children.

He was educated in the Marlboro County School system. James later went on to work at Abbott Laboratory in Laurinburg NC for over twenty years and retired. James loved music, spending time with his family, and his vintage car. After retirement, he was able to enjoy his family and friends for the remainder of his life.

He was preceded in death by two siblings, Bernice Covington and Robert (Rev. Martha) Bridges.

On July 1, 2017, James Bridges was called home to rest. He leaves to cherish his memory is his loving wife Mary Bridges. Five children:
Darlene Evans, James Bridges Jr, Valarie Bridges, Gwendolyn Bridges, Tiffani McCoy and son-in-law, Clarence McCoy Jr. and twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren; siblings: Maggie Rhodes, Mary Alice Bridges, Elizabeth Hailey, Glendora Johnson (Thomas Johnson), Betty Purvis (McKenzie Purvis), Kinney Jr. Bridges, and Evan Bridges (Elizabeth Bridges); an aunt, Wilma Smith, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family is receiving friends at 1109 Longview Road, Bennettsville.
