Jessie Lee “Nuncie” Davis, the daughter of the late Alexander Purvis and the late Narcissus Purvis, was born March 12, 1936 in the Lester Community. She received her educational training in the public schools of Marlboro County.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence Davis Sr., her son Steve, her daughter Patricia, her six brothers and six sisters.
On Monday March 5, 2018, Jessie Lee “Nuncie” Davis departed this earthly life at Scotland Memorial Hospital to gain entrance into her heavenly home.
She was united in marriage to the late Clarence Davis Sr., and to this union eight children were born.
Jessie joined the St James Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and later in life joined Word of Life Christian Center Ministries where she was an active member until her health failed her. For over 10 years, Jessie worked at Essex Wires until they closed their doors. She was known for her love of Bingo and played often.
Left to cherish her memories are six children, Robert (Arbadella) Davis of Bennettsville, SC, Clarence Davis Jr. of Cheraw, SC, Larry (Pat) Davis, Michael Davis, Billy (Peggy) Davis, and Jimmy Davis all of Bennettsville, SC, Two step-sisters Patricia Ann Littles and Mary Ann Davis all of Bennettsville, SC, One son-in-law Ben Douglas, A daughter-in-law Sandra Davis, A special friend of the family Harriet Jackson, A special grandson Lamont Davis, twenty-one grandchildren, forty-three great grands and three great great grands, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
