Thomas Charles Pouncy, known to most as “T.C.”, was born in Marlboro County, Bennettsville, South Carolina on September 10, 1932, to the late Rosalee Pouncy and James Wade; both preceded him in death in 1941 and 1987 respectively. T.C. who was then raised by his grandparents (Richmond and Daisy Pouncy), whom he lovingly called mom and dad; set him on the path to Christ through Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church and he continued to worship faithfully at St Paul's Church of Christ in Brooklyn, NY.
T.C. spent his early years working on the farm his family share cropped, alongside his grandfather and cousins. Later, T.C. worked for Boro Company. During this time, he met and married his beloved wife, Nancy Rebecca Smith, also known affectionately as Teeny. For a better life, T.C. and Teeny relocated to Brooklyn, New York in 1960. In 1961, T.C. started working for 32B-J, as a gardener and maintenance supervisor for Long Island University, and a maintenance supervisor for Fairchild Publications, where he spent the next 35 years working two full time jobs, until he retired in 1996.
T.C. was a hard-working man with a great sense of humor, a generous heart, a provider & protector for his family and friends. He had a passions for automobiles, a great sense of style, and known for his trademark hats.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 27 years, and 11 brothers and sisters. He leaves behind to celebrate his life, his 2 sisters: Maxine Bright and Sarah Quick, of Bennettsville, SC, 5 wonderfully blessed daughters: Clarisse Rogers, of Bennettsville, SC; Barbara(Richard) Pouncy-Thomas and Stephanie (Trevor)Pouncy-James, of Brooklyn, NY; Sharon Nedra Pouncy, of Greensboro, NC, and Sharife Danielle Pouncy, of Reynoldsburg, OH, 5 grandchildren: Khalil, Kareem, Kyle, Brianna, and Nareya, 3 great-grandchildren: Kai-yan, Kanajaha, Kahlissa, 1 great great-grandson: Landon, several sisters-in-law, several brothers-in law and a host of other close knit relatives and special friends.
