Willie Smith Obituary

Willie “Junior” Smith was born August 16, 1977 in Bennettsville, South Carolina to Mrs. Bessie Smith and the late Mr. Willie “Junior” Smith.

He attended the public schools of Marlboro County and graduated from Marlboro County High School in 1995. Junior was converted at an early age and joined Saint Beulah Baptist Church. Shortly after high school Junior moved to Atlanta, Georgia and there he met his wife Marquita. Junior and Marquita moved to Newport News, Virginia where they were joined in holy matrimony. He had 2 beautiful daughters, Destiny and Latavia Smith. Junior worked 15 years for CA Barrs Construction Co. in Yorktown, Virginia, there he received several certifications and excelled at his job.  Junior will be remembered for many things especially his love for others. Junior was a loving Father, a caring Son, a strong Brother, a gentle Uncle, a hard Worker, a faithful friend, and a GREAT cook.

Junior was called home to rest on Wednesday, March 21, 2018.

Junior leaves behind many people who loved him dearly. Marquita Smith, his wife, and two children, Destiny and Latavia Smith from Newport News, VA,  Bessie Smith (Mother), 4 Sisters, Brenda Ford, Ann Smith, Erica Alford, All from Bennettsville, SC, Contella Smith from Stockbridge, Ga , 6 Brothers, Alex Alford, Lamont Smith, Levone Evans, Timothy Sinkler, All from Bennettsville, SC, Simmie Smith from Fayetteville, GA., and  David Alford from Columbia, SC, 3 Brother-In-Laws, Steve Ford, Mitchell Alford, Terry Watson, 4 Sister-In-Laws, Mary Alford, Tiffany Smith, Comet Watson, and Nicole Alford. Junior also leaves behind 12 nieces, 9 nephews, 1 special niece Brittany Akins, and 2 special nephews Donald Akins and Adreaell Tywan Ray, 9 aunts, a host of great nieces, great nephews, and cousins. Junior had 5 very special friends: Gary Bostic, Dewayne Simmons, Steven Simmons, Marvin Simmons, and Tiki Poo.

 

The family is receiving friends at 140 Carolina Drive, Bennettsville.
