Willie Staggers

Willie Staggers, Jr. was born August 18, 1936 to Willie Staggers, Sr. and Rachael Spears Staggers and resided in Clio, SC all his life. Willie Staggers affectionately known as “Will Jr” departed his life on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 after a brief illness.

Willie attended Lincoln School formerly of Clio, SC. When converted at an early age Willie joined Spears United Methodist Church of Clio, SC. In his earlier years Willie’s hobbies were fishing and hunting and he worked in farming until his retirement. He then took on odd jobs in and around Clio, SC.

Willie was preceded in death by his parents; children: Pastor Willie Jr. Staggers, III, and Elder Richard L. Staggers; siblings, Ulysses Staggers, David Jr. Staggers, Betty Louise Staggers and Mary Virginia Staggers.

Willie “Will Jr” was joined in marriage to the late Sarah McDuffie and to this union was blessed with three children.

Loved ones left to cherish his lasting memories a son, James Willie Staggers of Bennettsville, SC; step daughter, Martha Staggers; three brothers, James D. (Rosa Marie) Staggers of Greenville, NC, Alexander (Cora) Bethea of High Point, NC, Charles E. (Martha) Staggers of Laurinburg, NC; two sisters, Nellie M. (Archie) Kollock of Spartanburg, SC, and Helen McDuffie of Laurinburg, NC.  Willie’s heart was special for his sister Nellie and she was his pride and joy as they were leaders of the “Staggers Family” after both of their parents passed on.

Also left to cherish his memories special nieces, Brenda (Jerry) Lloyd, LaShana Lloyd, Hazel Staggers, Carol Dimery and Shyde; one special nephew, Jerry O. Lloyd; sister-in-law, Shirley Staggers of Greenville, NC; two brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; eight grandchildren; one great grand; 26 nieces and nephews. A very special friend Johnny Mack Lester, and a host of family, friends and others.
