Woodrow Jackson

May 18, 1935 ~ December 10, 2017 (age 82) 82 Years Old

Mr. Woodrow “LJ” Jackson, son of the late Gladys Gilbert Jackson McLeod and Woodrow Jackson, was born in Darlington, SC on May 18, 1935. On December 10, 2017 he departed this life at Scotland Memorial Hospital in Laurinburg, NC.

Woodrow graduated from New Providence School in Darlington, SC. He began working at oak River Mills for many years and later began working for the City of Clio, where he retired. He was converted in his youth and joined Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Darlington, SC. Woodrow had a humble spirit and was devoted to helping others. He enjoyed biking and fast sporty cars. He was actively involved with charity work and helping the disadvantaged, disabled and improvised children.

He is preceded in death by his wife Missouri Mills Jackson, brother Troy Lyles, sister Virginia Merrick, sons Richard Jackson and Fred Jackson.

He leaves to cherish his fond memories seven children, Gladys Jackson Kennedy of Scranton, PA,  Diane Matthews of Bridgeton, NJ, Woodrow Jackson III of Clio, SC, Edward Jackson of Birmingham, AL, Christine Jackson of High Point, NC, David (Danielle) McQueen of Durham, NC and Thelia McQueen of Durham, NC; one brother Robert (Annie) McLeod of Bennettsville, SC; a sister Ruby . Lunn of Darlington, SC; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren. He also leaves to reflect upon his life a devoted companion, Delorise Hanna, and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
