Jeremy Bethea is a lifelong resident of Bennettsville. He is the son of the late Johnny J.Bethea and the late Mary Edith Bethea. 

He is a member of the last graduating class of McColl High School (1989). He earned the Associate of Science Degree in funeral service from Gupton- Jones College, Atlanta, Georgia and the Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from Francis Marion University in Florence, SC, where he was inducted into Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. 

Jeremy served seven years in the South Carolina Army National Guard. In 1999 he was called into the gospel ministry and was licensed by the Mt. Zion Baptist Church. In 2001 he was ordained by the Berea Baptist Association. Since 2002 he has served as Pastor of the Historic Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Mullins, SC. 

He is a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer. He is actively involved in various community and church related organizations and associations and enjoys his life of service. 

Jeremy is married to Dr. Kandace Rhames Bethea who serves as the  Superintendent of the Marion County School District. They have three children; Justin, Jamison and Jillian.
