Benjamin Johnson Obituary

Mr. Benjamin “Ben” Johnson was born on February 17, 1955 in Marlboro County, South Carolina to the late Mr. Bernice and Mrs. Florence Moore Johnson. He departed this life on November 19, 2019.

Ben was educated in Wallace, South Carolina at Wallace High School. He joined the US Marines Corp with his buddy Mr. James W. Lindsey, leaving for basic training at Paris Island, South Carolina. After which he was stationed at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He traveled by ship to Spain, France, Italy, Greece, and Turkey while serving. Ben loved to make everyone laugh and finding humor in all situations. He loved being outside and talking with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his twin brother Mr. Bernice “Bun’ Johnson, Jr., and two sisters Miss Dorothy Johnson, and Mrs. Mary Potter, and 2 Nephews Jaumell Johnson and Vincent McCrae.

Ben leaves to cherish his memories; four daughters Yolanda (Jonathan) Lipscomb of Holly Springs, NC, Turkessha (Brian) Rodman of Charlotte, NC, Sharika Ford of Bennettsville, SC, Appolonia Sullivan of Easton, MD; one brother Calvin Johnson of Norfolk VA; two sisters Leslie Sands of Norfolk, Va. and Julia Johnson of Bennettsville, SC; one sister-in-law Gracie Johnson of Cheraw SC; eight grandchildren Brittany Payne, Shamira Lipscomb, Shadiyah Littles, Jakeem Littles, Diamond Walker, Najiya Sullivan, Brooklyn Sullivan, and Skylar Sullivan; one great grand Xavier Smith; one uncle Wilson (Alice) Johnson; one aunt Viola Harrington of Seattle WA.; a host of nieces, a special niece Tasha Powe, nephews, cousin, family and friends.
