Cornelius Johnson Obituary

 

Cornelius Johnson known affectionately as “Dad”, was born March 17, 1932 to Willie and Blossie Johnson in Bennettsville, SC. He departed this life on September 21, 2019 at McLeod Medical Center in Cheraw, SC.

 He graduated from Marlboro County Training School. He was drafted and served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, from 1951 until 1953. After military service, he was employed with the New York City Transit Authority for twenty-two years.

Pastor Johnson is a graduate of Tabernacle of Prayer Bible College. He obtained a Masters Degree in Biblical Ministry Studies. He was ordained a minister on September 10, 1973. He was the founder and pastor of Living Word Praise Fellowship Church which was established in 1988.

He loved everybody whether you were “black, white, blue, grizzled, or grey. He was a father, friend, prayer warrior to many. He was a gentle giant that would help anyone in need, and he hated gossiping

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of fifty three years, Rosa Johnson; four children, Brenda Johnson Stubbs, Christopher Johnson, Timothy Johnson and Betty Quick all of Bennettsville, SC; four special love children, John Nicholas, Andricka and Nona, five grandchildren, Courtney, Christian, Cody, Claudius and Andre; seven great grands, Kahleef, Erik, Kristen, Averyon, Takuria, Andre, and Claudeon; two great-great grands Azzaria and Arriya; one brother Frederick Johnson of Queens, NY, two sisters-in-law, Louise Johnson of Mississippi and Leatha Green of Bennettsville, SC, a son-in-law, Timothy Stubbs of High Point, NC and the Living Word Praise Fellowship Church family, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family is receiving at 506 West Main Street, Bennettsville.
