Earnest McCall Obituary

Mr. Earnest Lee McCall “Hoop” was the son of the late Luther Joseph McCall Sr., and Lucy Jane Townsend McCall. Earnest was born on October 12, 1946 in Clio, South Carolina.

He was educated in the public schools in Clio, SC. At an early age, he was converted and joined Spears United Methodist Church and later Trinity United Methodist after the merger in 2004. He was active in Sunday School and in the church birthday rally in the month of October. Earnest had a heart of gold when it came too giving especially to his nieces, nephew, and friends.

Earnest “Hoop” was employed at Emerson for five years, Powell for thirty years and Pacific MDF/Precision for twenty-one years.

On Saturday, December 21, 2019 he departed this life at his residence.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents ,Richard and DeLia McDuffie McCall, Charles and Louann McCoy Townsend; six sisters, Lena Bell McCall, Dorothy M. Calhoun, Retha M. Manning, Della M. Lynch, Louanna M. McRae, and baby girl McCall; three brothers, Luther Joseph Jr., John and Charles Junior McCall.

He leaves to cherish his memories: one sister, Lillie Bell “Bee” Bethea; one brother, Jams L. “Tom” McCall both of Clio, SC; one brother-in-law, Hubbard McRae Jr. of McColl, SC; three godchildren, Carlos Jones, CyKeitha Bethea and Tiawanna White; ten nieces, Lynn (Camelson), Jacqueline McGirt, Lucy Calhoun, and Carastine Bethea all of Clio, SC, Sarah (Chris) Stephens and Linda Hernandez both of Fayetteville, NC, Oliva, Anna Doris, Paulette and Eyvette Bethea all of Philadelphia, PA; eight nephews: Ramsey Calhoun of Columbia, SC, James L., Douglas, Luther Joseph, Leroy Lynch, Jerome (Peggy) Manning, Johnny Bethea and Michael McCall all of Clio, SC; three grand nieces that were reared in the home, Naconya Lynch of Laurinburg, NC, Shemika McRae of Clio, SC, and Lenora McRae of Bennettsville, SC; two special grand nephews, Casey McCall and Camelin McRae; special cousins, Elder Annie Lou Johnson, Elder Roosevelt Townsend, Charles McDuffie, and Gloria Cook. A host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

The family is receiving friends at 509 Eden Street, Clio.
