Annie Calhoun Obituary

With profound sorrow we announce the passing of Annie Calhoun who departed this life April 28, 2022 at her residence.

A graveside service will be held Sunday, May 1, 2022 at 12:30pm in the Cedar Fall Baptist Church Cemetery.

Obituary 

Annie Lee Calhoun, 94, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2022, at her residence. She was born to the late Tommy Peterkin and Marie Harley Peterkin on March 9, 1929, in Marlboro County, SC.

Annie was educated in Marlboro County, SC. Then later in life she moved to Brooklyn, NY where she met and united in marriage to Raymond Smith, who preceded her in death. Along with two daughters and one son: Linda S. Bostic, Phyllis Smith, and Alvin Smith.; four brothers, Wesley Peterkin, Daniel Peterkin, Moses Peterkin, and George Peterkin; two sisters: Ruth Boyd and Tommie J. Dunlap.

After relocating in her hometown of Bennettsville, SC. She met and married LeGrand Calhoun who preceded her in death. She was a faithful member and a Deaconess at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, Bennettsville, SC. After the passing of her husband. She returned to her home church. Cedar Fall Missionary Baptist Church, Blenheim, SC.

Left to cherish her memories are two daughters Leverne Calhoun Welch of the home. Phyllis Calhoun of Mullins, SC and three sons Herdith (Sallie) Calhoun, Donald (Linda) Calhoun and Anthony (Jackie) Calhoun all of Bennettsville, SC; three sister, Ella Bell Parker of Charlotte, NC, Eula Ward and Annie Jane Dupree of Hillside, NJ; twelve grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relative and friends.
