Avery LaShay McArthur was born November 7, 1995 in Bennettsville SC to Alex McArthur III & Evangela James McArthur of Bennettsville, SC.
Avery was christened at Spears United Methodist Church in Bennettsville, SC. He continued his spiritual growth at Shiloh United Methodist Church, McColl, SC where he served in many capacities including the Acolytes Ministry, Children’s Choir, and Usher Board Ministry. He later attended Bible Way Church of Atlas Road, Columbia, SC under watch care.
He was educated in Marlboro County. He attended Stevens Christian Academy in Bennettsville, SC as a child, then Wallace Elementary Middle School from kindergarten through 5th grade. He later attended Marlboro School of Discovery Clio, SC 6th through 8th grade. He graduated Marlboro County High School Class of 2014 as an Honor Graduate. He furthered his education and attended USC, Columbia where he majored in Mechanical Engineering. He anticipated earning his Bachelor of Science degree December 2020. He was a member of the Zeta Zeta Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity where he served as Champlin. He was employed for the past 3 years at
Foot Locker/Foot Action of Columbia, SC. Avery was a devoted son who cherished his family and friends. He was known as a true gentleman with a giving heart. To know him, was to love him.
Preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Claretta Bright and his paternal grandfather Alex McArthur Jr. His paternal great grandparents Lonnie and Pearl Covington, Alex and Jessie McArthur.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories, his mother and father of the home, his sister LyMia McArthur of Clio, SC, grandmother Gwendolyn McArthur of Clio, SC, great grandmother Clara Redden of Timmonsville, SC, his grandfather Charles Bright “Bud” of Wallace, SC. One Aunt Teresa (Joshua) Brown of Cheraw, two uncles Rico James of Bennettsville, SC, and Rodney McArthur of Clio, SC., cousins Damion Ford, Jamil Ford, Hailee James and Kalissa Ford, cousin and godfather Alexander Woods (Saundra) of Columbia, SC. Special friend Ciera Mack. Fraternity brothers and friends, Hassan Belton, Todd Clifton, Tal Johnson, Rodrick Jones, Dennis Washington and a host of other relatives and friends.
