Bobby Rogers Obituary

On August 18, 1957, Bobby Prentiss Rogers Sr. entered this world as yet another blessing to the late Mary and John D. Rogers. He departed this life on Wednesday, May 6, 2020, in Florence, S.C.

As the eighth of thirteen children, Bobby was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. He attended public school in Danbury, Connecticut, where he graduated from Danbury High School, receiving his diploma. He would later move to Bennettsville, South Carolina, where he would settle for the remainder of his life.

Bobby was a hard-working, skilled, and very artistic man. Joining the Army National Guard in 1977, he would serve seven years. Developing skills in auto mechanics, blueprint reading, and drawing, he would go on to work at places such as J.P. Stevens, Takata, and Mohawk, serving many years at each. Along with being hard-working, he was also a man of God having attended St. Michael Methodist Church.

Bobby Rogers was a man who loved good music, laughs, a good time, and, most importantly, his family. Through his love, he impacted the lives of many forever. He will be greatly missed, leaving behind countless memories in the lives he touched. Among those he leaves behind his loving wife of 23 years Patricia Rogers, daughter Bobriana Campbell (Mary), of Red Springs, NC, son Bobby Rogers Jr. of Bennettsville, SC, one step-daughter Sheila Dogan, six grandchildren (Tyreka, Elisha, Joseph, Joshua, Gabriel, and Sarah) all of El Paso, T.X. His sisters Mary McRae (Thomas Sr.) of Naugatuck, C.T., Angelina Lawson, Margaret Victor (Gustave II), Avon Ballard (Rodney), Zenobia Rogers and Jacqueline Rogers all of Bennettsville, S.C. Three brothers John D. Rogers (Fannie) of Danbury, C.T., James Rogers, and Harris Rogers (Faith) both of Bennettsville, S.C. Lastly, he leaves behind a very special aunt, Thelma Valentine, along with an abundance of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Preceding him in death is his loving parents Mary and John Rogers, along with brothers Matthew, Lonnie Carl, Guerry Rogers, and Bobby Williams.
