Christopher Powe Obituary

Mr. Christopher Maurice Powe, son of the late Vera Mae Powe was born December 24, 1966 in Marlboro County, SC.

He attended Clio High School, Class of 1985, and Columbia Junior College where he earned an Associate Degree.

Chris gave his life to Christ at an early age where he joined Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church.

Chris aka “Big Shack” was the life of the party, who loved his family and always wanted to be around them.  He was a jack of all trades (mechanic, contractor, landscaper, barber, chef, bodyguard), but above all he was the ultimate momma’s boy with a heart of gold.

Chris was a beloved father, brother, and uncle. He took his last breath of life Sunday evening, February 7, 2021.

Chris was preceded in death by one brother, Bobby Dennis Powe, and his grandparents, the late Deacon James and Gladys Powe and Willie Woods Jr.

Chris leaves to cherish his memories: three beloved daughters, Malottis Sekole Davis of Myrtle Beach, SC, Christina M. Alford of Charleston, SC, and Kris’chelle Monèt Powe of the home. His father, Wille Woods III of Clio, SC; a loving grandmother Lula M. Woods of Clio, SC, five sisters Angela Poe, Annie E. Powe, Lucille Patricia Powe, Vivian Woods of Clio, SC, and Dawana Woods Brown of TX; five brothers Willie Townsend of Savannah, GA, Andre Woods, Anthony (Jackie) Woods, Gregory (Mary) Woods, and Gary Woods all of Clio. One Goddaughter, Ava Elizabeth Powe, of Clio. A very special aunt Lucille Powe of Clio. His Godmothers, Ethel (Jerome) Williams of Bennettsville, SC and Carrie (Marvin) Wright of High Point, NC. A very special friend La’Kisha Mclaughlin of Thomasville, NC. Four special lifelong friends: Timothy Bradford, Rodney Davis, John Easterling Jr., and Tony Anderson. Special loved ones: Crystal (Kelvin) Davis of Florence, SC, Danson Powe, Dartavis Powe, and Jamesha Powe all of Clio and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
