Darn Campbell Obituary

Ms. DARN ELLA DOUGLAS CAMPBELL was born February 20, 1921 in Marlboro County SC to the late Willie and Ella Douglas. She was the second born of six children to their union; she was also their last living child.

Darn Ella was a dedicated and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, niece, cousin, friend and most importantly woman of God, she served and loved whole heartedly. Darn along with her parents and siblings were members of Cedar Fall Baptist Church, at a young age she received Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.

She was educated in the Marlboro County School system, after attending school she met and married her husband the late Howard Campbell Sr. She then moved to McColl, SC where she joined Fletcher Grove Baptist Church, she continued to serve the Lord as a Sunday School Teacher, Secretary, Usher, Choir Member, Prayer Warrior, Mother of the Church (Mother Campbell) and much more. Darn Ella was also a great mentor to many, especially those who were called into the ministry, she taught many how to study the Word of God.

Darn Ella retired after working several years as a Supervisor and Cook, she was the supervisor of the cafeteria at Adamsville and Fletcher School in McColl, SC. Howard and Darn Ella had seven children: Howard Campbell Jr. of McColl SC, Georga Ella Campbell (deceased), Freddie Campbell (deceased), Dorothy Campbell (deceased), Mary Campbell (deceased), Billy Campbell of Laurinburg NC and Betty Campbell of McColl SC. A special grand daughter Sally M Ridges. Darn Ella was blessed to have three loving daughters in law, Margaree Campbell (deceased), Mable Campbell of Bennettsville SC and Dorothy (Dottie) Campbell of Laurinburg NC

Darn Ella and her siblings were very close, her sisters and brother often called her Mom. Her sisters and brothers that proceeded her in death: Bennie Lee Jeffries, Wilhelmina W Watson, Geneva White, Col. Will Douglas Jr., Mamie D Jackson, and David Douglas.

Darn Ella leaves to cherish her memories are her sons Howard Campbell Jr., Billy Campbell, her daughter Betty Campbell, her special granddaughter Sallie Ridges, her daughters in law Mable Campbell and Dottie Campbell, her brothers W R (Mildred) Douglas, John Douglas and James Douglas, her sisters Mary E Douglas and Cheryl D (Gerald) Butler, 21 grandchildren, 38 great grands, 40 great-great grands and six great-great great grands, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
