James Bears Obituary

Mr. James Bears, better know as “Jim was born on September 5, 1957 in Marlboro County, South Carolina. He answered the Master’s eternal call on Friday, April 9, 2021 at McLeod Health in Cheraw, SC.

He was educated in Marlboro County public school system.

James was employed at Emerson/Marley Engineered Products in Bennettsville, SC for 39 years until he retired in 2018.

Early in life he attended Cedar Grove First Missionary Baptist Church in Gibson, NC.

He was preceded in death by his parents Julius and Fannie Bears; two siblings: William Bears and Fannie Theresa Bear-Mitchell; great grandson, Ezra Hardin-Bears; father-in-law, Billy Spears; sister-in-law, Carla Spears.

James leaves to cherish his loving and most precious memories to his wife, Lisa Bears. Three Sons: Edward Bears (Tamera) of Jonesboro, GA, Tysheen Bears of Rockingham, NC, and Rysheen Bears of the home. One daughter, Keisha Brown of Laurinburg, NC. Three sisters: Ruby Pearson, Victoria Richardson (Derrick) both of Capital Heights, MD, and Betty Bryant of Rockville, MD. One brother, Bobby Lloyd of California. Grandchildren: Ta’Marion Hardin-Bears (Jordan), Dameon Brown, Amarion Jones, Ka’licia Bears, Genesis Zeigler, Ja’Cion Flowers, Journee Bears, Joy’Eshia Covington, Damasia Brown, and Malcolm Brown. One great grandchild, Valrie Hardin-Bears. Mother-in-law, Emma Spears of McColl, SC. Four sisters-in-law: Tammy Spears of McColl, SC, Jeannette O’Neil (Robert) of Bennettsville, SC, Annie Spears (Tim) of High Point, NC, and Nikki Daniels (Terry) of Raeford, NC; two brothers-in-law: Michael Staton of McColl, SC, and James Spears of Tiffin, OH. Special friends: Hubert Quick, John Arthur Quick, and Nicole Williams. A host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
