James Douglas Thomas

With profound sorrow we announce the passing of James D. Thomas who departed this life December 3, 2021 in Cheraw.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 12pm at the Berea Baptist Convention Center. Interment will follow in the Berea Memorial Garden.

Mr. James D. Thomas (J.D.) was born in Bennettsville, SC on September 11, 1934, to the late Rosetta Thomas and was raised by Rosetta & Eddie Thomas.

J.D. was educated in the public schools in Marlboro County schools. J.D. served in the United States Army. He was employed at Emerson/Marley Electric until he retired.

On December 3, 2021, J.D. departed his life at Palmetto Ridge Assisted Living facility. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Darryl Thomas and Reginald Thomas, two brothers, and five sisters.

J.D. leaves to cherish his memory his children, Anthony Thomas of Jacksonville, FL, Jennifer Thomas of Jacksonville, FL, Naronda (Keith) Wright of Statesboro, GA, Nekeya (Reggie) Jeffcoat of Seattle, WA, Brian (Chiquetta) Thomas of High Point, NC, Lita Thomas (Amir Shabazz) of Houston, TX, Anthony Thomas of Charlotte, NC, and Sherika Thomas of Bennettsville, SC; twenty-six grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; sisters, Sallie Mae Miles of Bennettsville, SC and Edith Thomas of Bennettsville, SC. A host nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
