With profound sorrow we announce the passing of James Malachi who departed this life January 21, 2022, in Florence, SC.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at 2:30 pm at Berea Baptist Convention Center. Interment will follow in the Berea Memorial Garden.
James Arthur “Moonsie” Malachi entered eternal rest on Friday, January 21, 2022, at McLeod Hospice Hospital Florence, SC where he was surrounded by members of his loving family.
James was born in Bennettsville, South Carolina on Sunday, January 22, 1956, to the late Alex Rose and Viola Malachi. He was educated in Marlboro County School System. He spent his earlier years doing carpentry and landscaping; he also worked at Powell Manufacturing and Veneer Mill. In his later years, James enjoyed working at Johnson’s Produce.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his brothers Alexander, James, and Alfred Rose and Johnny Malachi; his sisters, Elease and Lillie Mae Goodman and Bessie and Annie Mae Malachi, and three nephews.
James leaves his legacy of love and laughter to his family one brother Alexander Malachi and one sister Mildred Malachi of Bennettsville, SC, two sisters-in-law Maxine Rose of Bennettsville, SC and Sarah Taylor of New York, NY; a special nephew James “PeeWee” (Rochelle) Rose, Jr. five other nephews: Charles Rose, Larry, Barry, Shamorris, and Ladarion Malachi; five nieces, Lorriane Rose, Yvonne Campbell, Lisa Rose and Jennifer Malachi of Bennettsville, SC, Joyce Lytch of New York, NY, ten great nephews, five great nieces, three great-great nephews and four great-great nieces along with a host of cousins, other relatives and caring friends.
