With profound sorrow we announce the passing of James McCoy who departed this life August 6, 2021 in Dillon.
A funeral service will be held Sunday, August 15, 2021 at 2pm at Berea Baptist Convention Center. Interment will follow in the Mt Tabor Baptist Church Cemetery.
Deacon James McCoy, Jr. affectionately known as “June” was born August 26, 1947, to the late James McCoy and Creola Thomas McCoy. He passed away peacefully on August 6, 2021, surrounded by his family.
James graduated from Lincoln High School in 1968. After graduating, James worked as a brick mason and worked at Mohawk for 46 years until he retired in 2015. He was a member and a Deacon at Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church, where he served faithfully until his health declined. He was also a member of the Joppa Lodge #30.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, sisters, Geralene McCoy, Annie Lue McCoy McCall, Edna Lue McCoy Hinds, and brothers Luke Allen McCoy, Carl E. McCoy, Willie Lawrence McCoy.
James leaves to cherish his memories with his children: Regina Bostic, Leslie F. Townsend (James) Greenville, SC, Renee McCoy Laurinburg, NC, Mark E. McCoy (Stephanie) Charlotte, NC, Tammy King (Calvin) Bennettsville, SC, James A. McCoy of the home, Yolandra D. McCoy Columbia, SC, Audrey D. McCoy-Green (Christopher) Las Vegas, NV, LaToya P. Green Conway, SC, Randy Green, Jr. (Lindsey) Aviano, Italy. James has 20 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. He leaves to cherish his memory four sisters: Diane M. Davis (Rev. Dr. John L. Davis), Pearlie F. McCall (Clio, SC), Jessie Lee Moore (Florence, SC) and Creola M. Easterling (McColl, SC) and a host of loving nieces, nephews, Cousins, relatives, and friends.
