James H McLeod Jr.

With profound sorrow we announce the passing of James H. McLeod Jr., who departed this life August 22, 2021 in Florence.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, August 29, 2021 at 2pm at Berea Baptist Convention Center. Interment will follow in the Berea Memorial Garden.

Facial covering are required to attend the viewing and funeral service.

James Hector McLeod Jr., was born May 28, 1946, in Clio, SC to Margaret McLeod and the late James Hector Mcleod Sr.

James Jr. departed his life on August 22, 2021, at Faith Healthcare Center in Florence, SC.

He attended Marlboro County Public Schools. At an early age he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and joined St. Peters A.M.E. Zion Church in Clio, SC.

He moved to New York at a young age and did some construction work. Later in life he moved back home and rejoined the church. He served on the Usher Board and sung on the Men Choir. He was a helper of the community to all that needed him.

He was preceded in death by his father James Hector McLeod, Sr., his sister, Annie “Sister” McLeod, and a special friend Joann Townsend.

James Jr leaves to cherish his memory his wife Annie Margaret McLeod of McColl, SC. Five daughters: Michelle McLeod of McColl, SC, Sherell Nathaniel of Brooklyn, NY, Tasha Lewis-Smullen (Wardell) of Charlotte, NC, Patrice McLeod of Brooklyn, NY, and Maryanne Lewis of Brooklyn, NY. One sister, Annie L. Brown of Clio, SC. Fifteen grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
