James Edward Purvis

James Edward Purvis was born September 19, 1958 in Marlboro County to the late James Townsend and Lettie Mae Purvis. He transitioned peacefully on February 12, 2021 at his home.

He attended the public schools of Marlboro county. James worked as an Industrial Mechanic for over 30 years at Advanced Cups/International Cups, Popz.

James was known as  "Nutty" to many. On December 24,1981 he married the love of his life Ernestine Jones Purvis, and to their union four children were born.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Martha Purvis and Mary Ann Simmons, his brother Woodrow Purvis and grandson Gregory Brown Jr.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife loving wife Ernestine Jones Purvis of the home, five daughters Amanda Purvis, Candace Purvis, Justine Purvis all of Bennettsville SC, Samantha (Grey) Brown and Violet (Kenya) Jackson of Charlotte, NC; two sons James Purvis Jr. of the home and Timothy (Demetria) Stanback of Bennettsville, SC; three sisters Arletha (Tommy) Reese of MD, Shemira Townsend and Doetta Purvis both of Bennettsville, SC; three brothers James A. Purvis, Jerry (Callie) Purvis and Clarence Purvis all of Bennettsville, SC; twenty-three grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. Two special nieces Lettie Ann (Larry) Robinson of Florence, SC and Sean Reese of MD; two love adopted children Eddie Fuertes Of Alaska and Shamicka McLaurin of Bennettsville, SC, and many other nieces, nephews, family and friends.
