Janie Thomas Obituary

Janie Mae Thomas was born on January 8,1952 in Bennettsville, SC to the late Douglas McRae Sr and Janie Lee McRae.

She transitioned on June 11, 2022, at Cheraw Healthcare in Cheraw, SC.

At an early age, she joined St. Peter AME Zion Church of Clio and has been a dedicated member since.  She graduated from Clio High School in 1970.  In February 1970, she was united in holy matrimony to Charles Thomas. 

Throughout her life, she worked at various manufacturing jobs. She retired from Perdue Farms in Dillon SC in 2014.

Janie had the sweetest spirit ever and a smile that would brighten the room.  She loved shopping for dresses so that she could always look her Sunday’s best.  Her love for her family, especially her grandchildren, surpasses everything. 

Janie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death in addition to her parents, by her two children, Charles Arch Thomas Jr, and Tina Thomas, one grandson Jameke Thomas, two brothers, Douglas McRae Jr and James William McRae, two sisters, Gladys McNair and Annie Lou McRae.

She leaves to cherish her sweet sweet memories, her husband Charles Arch Thomas, Sr, two daughters, Eunice Thomas Ray of Clio and Traisha Thomas McIntyre (Damion) of Bennettsville SC, Grandchildren: Jibri Thomas, Simone Thomas Knight, London Thomas, Rajanee Thomas, Malik Shears, Jordan Ray, Ashari Baker, and Aubree Peterkin; three brothers Camelson (Lyn) McRae of Clio SC, Marion McRae, High Point NC and Robert McRae of Charlotte NC, two sisters, Bertha McRae of Clio, SC Martha Jean Sanders of McColl SC, two brothers-in-law, Ronnie Alford and Fred Thompson (Clara) of Clio, SC; five sisters-in-law Betty (Edward) Graham of Bennettsville, Martha Alford of Clio, Melanie (John) Wilson of Greensboro, NC, Angela Peterson of Whitsett NC, Mary (Sean) Bethea of Charlotte, NC eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren, a god daughter Jo’Na Aiken of Dillon, three ladies she loved like her  daughters: Earlean Hall of Clio, Tonya Aiken of Dillon, and Amesha McRae of Dillon, a very special young man she considered her grandson, Ethan Hall of Clio, a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends whom she loved dearly.
