God in his infinite wisdom and divine love claimed and called Jovanni Jamal McClain from our midst to his everlasting home on Saturday, November 9, 2019.
Jovanni Jamal McClain, son of Bobby Gilchrist and the late Mary Ann McClain Toney, was born October 30, 1991 in Marlboro County.
He was preceded in death by sister Jocelyn Renee McClain, nephew Braylon Payton McCallum, stepbrother Randell Jarrad Toney, step father Charles Edward Toney and step brother Charles Toney, Jr.
He accepted Christ early in life and joined New St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church. He attended Marlboro County Schools.
He leaves for special memories his loving and beautiful daughters, Ja’kiyah McClain of Spartanburg, SC, and Samonni Galloway of Washington, DC. His father Bobby Gilchrist, of Dillon, SC. sisters Tara Nachelle McClain of Bennettsville, SC, Traquesa McCrimmon, Sedadra Gilchrist, Keyvonna Purnell, all of Dillon, SC. brothers B’Ryan Gilchrist, Bobby Purnell, and Ramone Bines all of Dillon, SC. step brothers Dyron (Tenesia) Toney, Derek (Sharet) Toney, both of Hartsville, SC; two special nephews, Khaled Wright and Caleb McCallum; three aunts , Pearlie McClain, Verlie M. (James) Davis and Deretha Bethea, all of Bennettsville, SC; five uncles, Charles McClain, Honolulu, Hawaii, Jerry (Marilyn) McClain Dillon, SC, Larry (Nellie) McClain, Bennettsville, SC, James (Mary) McLain Charlotte, NC and Willie (La’Tonya) McClain Clio, SC; God Sister, Corknyyah Leggett; along with a host of nieces, nephews, first cousins, other relatives, and friends.
