Lillean Ollaysiah Massey

Lillean Ollaysiah Massey, age 17, passed away on Friday, September 26, 2020 at home. She was born on March 26, 2003, in Portsmouth, VA. Her parents, Zelmone and Veronnica Massey, truly received an angel on that day. Never would they have imagined that her infectious spirit would impact so many lives.

A senior at Oscar Smith High School, Lillean looked forward to assisting with events like the yearly modeling show. She loved to encourage others even in the midst of her storms. Described as “developed well above her years”, Lillean eloquently displayed what it really means not to complain. From taking a number of medications to battling bullying, Lillean chose to thrive by accepting Christ as her personal Savior at Faithway Baptist Church in Chesapeake, VA, allowing her light to shine. Lillean was preceded in death by her granny, Bessie L. Massey and grandfather, Ronnie Leach.

Left to cherish her memory are her parents, Zelmone and Veronnica Massey of Columbia, SC; two sisters, Lilly and Albethani Massey of Columbia, SC; her grandparents, Sammie and Betty McLaughlin of Clio, SC; four uncles, David Reid of Broadnax, VA, Lazone Massey of Detroit, MI, Javon Reid of Louisville, KY, and Shaquille McLaughlin of Clio, SC. Three aunts, Ta’Nisha Massey (De’Vontae) and Shartavia Massey of Detroit, MI and Samantha McLaughlin (Jay) of Clio, SC. Lillean also leaves behind a host of great-aunts, great-uncles, family and friends.
