Mary Alford Obituary

Mary Helen Marie Alford was born on February 20, 1960 in Bennettsville, SC to Ola B. Ray and the late John Ray.

She attended McColl Fletcher Memorial High School were she also graduated from in McColl, SC.

Mary accepted Christ early on in her life. She attended Bethel Bible Believing Church of God, then later joined House of Faith Ministries Church in Clio, SC where she was a faithful and active member. She was also a dedicated member of “The Gospel Ray’s group for fourteen years. Mary always had a big heart of gold and loved all her family, friends, and everyone whom graced her presence the same, genuinely with open arms.

Mary was preceded in death by her brother, Leroy Ray and brother-in-law, Willie Smith, Jr.

Left to cherish her memories her husband, Alex Alford of thirty-four long beautiful years and from this great union one son and three daughters were born: Adreaell (Margaret) Ray of San Antonio, TX, Tameka (Terry) Moore of Bennettsville, SC, Tierany (Dejon) Alford of Bennettsville, SC, and Avis Alford of Columbia, SC; brothers and sisters, Charles (Naomi) Ray of Bennettsville, SC, Brenda McClain of Gibson, NC, Alexander Ray of McColl, SC, Patricia Ray of McColl, SC, John Wayne (Everee) Ray of Bennettsville, SC, Sam Ray of Columbia, SC; adopted sister, Blanche Williams; father-in-law, James Watson Bennettsville, SC; mother-in-law, Bessie Smith of Bennettsville, SC; brothers and sisters-in-law, David (Nicole) Alford of Columbia, SC, Brenda (Steve) Ford and Ann Smith both of Bennettsville, SC, Simmie (Tiffany) Smith and Contella Smith both of Atlanta, GA, Erica (Mitchell) Alford of Bennettsville, SC, Lamont Smith of Clio, SC, Marti Smith of VA; twelve grands; two great grands, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends including  two very special friends more like sisters, Ms. Mary Purvis and Ms. Mary Rogers.
