A graveside service will be held Saturday August 1, 2020 at 11am in the Berea Memorial Garden. The service will be live streamed on the Bethea Funeral Home facebook page.
Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Alford was born May 24, 1951 in Marlboro County SC. She was the daughter of the late Willie and Geneva Townsend and the granddaughter of the late Arthur and Minnie McCall.
She was a graduate of Clio High School Class of 1970.
“Lady” as she was affectionately called enjoyed fishing and spending time with her family. She will be missed by many as she was always laughing and carried a smile on her face.
On a late Sunday night, God whispered slowly and called “Lady” home.
She departed this life on July 26, 2020 at Lexington Medical Center in West Columbia SC.
Four brothers and one sister preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband Neil Parnell; two daughters; Sharon (Rick) McDuffie of Columbia, SC and Diana Frazier of McColl, SC. Four grandchildren; Shakeia Townsend of Columbia, SC, Jawan Cougar of McColl, SC, and JaQuan Davis of McColl, SC. Three great grandchildren; McKinley Coleman of Columbia, SC, Nova Davis of Bennettsville, SC, and Lauren McDuffie of Warner Robins, GA. One stepson, Frederick Parnell of Ohio. Two sisters, Sallie Frazer of Clio, SC and Helen Douglas of Bennettsville, SC. Two brothers-in-law; Tommy Parnell of Clio, SC and James Parnell of Dillon, SC. Four sisters-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Special friends include Mary Ann McFall of McColl, SC. and Mary Pearl McCollum of High Point, NC.
