May Catherine David

October 5, 1937 ~ February 17, 2020 (age 82)

On Monday, February 17, 2020 the Lord heard the cry of Mae Catherine David as she patiently waited on the guardian angel to carry her to her heavenly home.

Mae Catherine David, who was affectionately known as Peggy, was born October 5th, 1936 to the late Catherine Gaunt. At an early age she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, and she joined Spears United Methodist Church; now Trinity United Methodist Church. She was a faithful member of the United Methodist Women and Usher Board. She was also a member of the Joint Stock Lodge #304. Peggy was a devoted and loyal member to all of the organizations until her health declined.

Peggy was preceded in death by her mother Catherine, and a daughter Patricia L. David.

Left to cherish the memories of her life are; one daughter Mary (Jimmie) Gurley, a bonus daughter Mae (Sylvester) Woods both of Bennettsville, SC; Four granddaughters Sabrina David of Rock Hill, SC, Kendra David of Bennettsville, SC, Monica and Myah Woods both of Florence, SC; One grandson Dion David of the home; Four great grandchildren Destiny Watson and Knox McCree of Rock Hill, SC, Diamond Bridges and Dionte David of Bennettsville, SC; and one great-great grandson Tristan Liles of Bennettsville, SC. Three sisters Mary Ridges and Betty Jean Gaunt of Brooklyn, NY and Rosa Lee Bostic of Fayetteville, NC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Peggy was a very dedicated woman to both her church and her family. Peggy took joy in nurturing and taking care of her family. She was also known to be a welcoming and loving person who will be remembered by many for her inviting phrase "Just come on and get something to eat!". Sunday family dinners always extended beyond our bloodline and included friends, neighbors and strangers who became family!
