Nellie McLeod Obituary

Nellie Mae McLeod was born February 10, 1938, to the late Henry Garner and Cleo Norwood, in Darlington, SC. Nellie received her formal Education though Marlboro County public school system.

Apostle McLeod accepted Christ as her savior early on at St. James Holiness Church, where she served faithfully. She was called to preach at the age of 17, her trial sermon came from the book of Revelation. She sung on the senior choir, she was the assistant pastor for 43 years, the Pastor for 17, and Apostle for seven years. She preached the word of God for 67 years.

She was the author of many Christian literatures like The Genealogy of Jesus Christ and The Study of the book of Christ. She stood for Christ and her legacy was “For God I Live and For God I Die”.

Apostle McLeod was married to the late Charlie McLeod Sr., January 31, 1964, to this union seven children were born.

On June 8, 2021, at her residence she departed this life.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father Henry and Cleo Garner, son Charlie McLeod Jr. Sisters: Alberta Moore, Rosezena McLeod, Elouise Dundy, and Addie Mae Quick. Brothers: James Garner, Robert Garner, Edward Garner, and Bishop John Garner. Sister-in-law Melvina Garner and Roxie Anna Garner.

Apostle McLeod leaves to cherish her beautiful memory her Children Joanne (Freddie) Bridges of St. Mary, Georgia, Mary (George) Brown of Tampa Florida, Alice (Joseph) Harrison of Goose Creek, SC, Darren (Monique) McLeod of Bennettsville SC, Ronald McLeod of Atlanta Georgia, Henry Lee McLeod of Virginia, and Mark (Kristina) McLeod of Alaska. Sister Margaret McRae of Newark, NJ. Sisters-in-law Janie Garner of Irmo, South Carolina, Airmae McLeod of Detroit, MI. 13 Grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, A special Goddaughter Lutrice Lampkin-Garcia and special daughters Pastor Janie McRae, Carolyn Williams, and Reverend Jackie Pouncy.
