Prentis Green Obituary

Due to the covid-19 pandemic, all attendees are requested to wear mask.

Deacon Prentis Green, of Bennettsville, SC, gained his heavenly wings on Wednesday, June 3, 2020. The son of the late Willie Green and Atlee Stuckey, Prentis was born on January 9, 1947 in Bennettsville, SC. To all his family and familiar friends, he was known as "Rev", "Slick" or "Uncle P".

Prentis was a brilliant man and a skilled outdoorsman (hunting, fishing, gardening, and building). He graduated from Eastside High School in May 1965. As a young man, Prentis gave his life to Jesus and was a dedicated and committed motivator. He became a member of New Hill Original Free Will Baptist Church early on and served as Deacon and Trustee. He also served as Trustee of The Original Cape Fear and Southwestern Free Will Baptist Conference. He served several roles in the church, Youth Ministry, Sunday School Teacher, Male Chorus, and President of Men's Ministry. You could always rely on "Rev" to give you stern advice backed by the word. He proudly shared his Faith but never judged anyone who didn't feel the same. He could be heard saying, "If I'm wrong, I stand to be corrected but you have to be right".

Prentis was a true patriarch to his family, who fully embodied the work ethic taught to him by his parents. He served 2 years in the Air Force and worked as supervisor for Forester Textiles in Maxton, NC until he retired. But what Prentis loved the most was his beautiful family. He was a proud son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He loved cooking for his family, and we all knew him to be the "Family Grill Master"! Prentis would always say, "God blessed me with two good wives". Mildred Green, who preceded him in death and on May 8, 1993 God blessed him again to marry the love of his life Minister Janice Faye Green. Prentis was a natural leader and would spend countless hours sharing his wisdom with family and friends.

Prentis leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 27 years, Minister Janice Faye Green of Bennettsville, SC; 4 children, Nolan Green of Bennettsville, SC, Derrick Ingram of Laurinburg, NC, Adrian Ingram of Bennettsville, SC and his loving baby girl Andrea "Boobie" Ingram-Green of San Francisco, CA; 13 grandchildren; 9 siblings, Peggy Wright of Bennettsville, SC, Willie Mae Haithcock of High Point, NC, Mary (Henry) Mitchell of Fayetteville, GA, Iris Green of High Point, NC, Sara Quick of High Point, NC, Aline (Ezzard) York of McColl, SC, Pamela (Douglas) Washington of Florence, SC, Willie James Green of Bennettsville, SC, and Johnny (Elandis) Stuckey of Bennettsville, SC; 3 siblings who preceded him in death: Geraldine Mack, Donald Ray Stuckey and James Stuckey; Mother-in-Love, Mrs. Jennie L e Brown; Sister-in-Laws Kimberly Brown of Laurinburg, NC, and Claresa Campbell of Fayetteville, NC; Brother-in-Laws Robert Brown of Greensboro, NC, and Ruben Ingram of Washington, DC; a special cousin/brother Charlie Grace better known as "Daddy" of Bennettsville, SC; a special uncle Nathaniel Depugh of Upper Marlboro, MD; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and  friends
