Rita Jackson Obituary

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at 3:00pm at Berea Baptist Convention Center. Interment will follow in the Word of Life Memorial Garden. 

Mrs. Rita Jackson, age 60, of Bennettsville, SC, departed this life on Friday, July 16, 2021 at Scotland Memorial Hospital.

She was born Rita Thomas in the early hours of March 7, 1961 to the late Luther and Alphenia Thomas.

Rita converted her life to Christ at an early age and continued to be dedicated to God and His works until her earthly departure.

She was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church and Sword of Truth where she served faithfully as an usher, a greeter, and in culinary. She was known "Mama Rita" for her smiles and motherly hugs. Rita spent her latter days as a member of Word of Life Christian Ministries.

She worked many jobs as a machine operator, a clerk at several stores in Bennettsville, and an assistant and substitute teacher with Marlboro County School District. She had a profound love for being a blessing in the lives of others.

On November 10, 1979, Rita was united in holy matrimony to the late Leroy Jackson, but is now reunited in heavenly matrimony with love; this union yield one child, Reva Jackson of Bennettsville, SC.

 Rita is also, reunited with her father Luther Thomas Sr., mother Alphenia Thomas,  brother Luther Thomas Jr, and sisters Sonya Manning, and Elaine Thomas.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory her beloved daughter Reva. Grandchildren Remiya, Ryreon and Lazir. Five sisters Roxanne McCollough, Mia (Frankie) Fletcher, and Shannon (Reginald) Lloyd of Bennettsville, SC, Renata (Theodore) Horton of Charlotte, NC, and Clarice (Russell) Mungo of Florence, SC. Two brothers: Raymond (Tina) Thomas of Bennettsville, SC, and Clifton Dale Thomas of Laurinburg, NC. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
