Robert Cain Sr. Obituary

Trustee Robert Lee Cain, Sr. was born on January 2, 1951 to the late Carl and Margaret Bruce Cain in Marlboro County. Three brothers preceded him in death: Carl Cain, Leon Cain, and Larry Cain; one grandson: Robert Lee Cain III.

On Sunday, December 13, 2020, in Florence, South Carolina at McLeod Regional Medical Center, God called Robert to exit his earthly home and enter his heavenly home.

Robert accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age and joined Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Bennettsville, S.C, where he served faithfully on the Trustee and Usher Board. He received his education from the Marlboro County Public School District; graduating in the Blenheim High School Class of 1970.

Robert was united in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Elois McLaughlin on July 31, 1971.  To this union five children were born.

Robert was employed at Mohawk Industry (Oak River) from 1967 until 1987. He was the owner and operator of “Cain’s Backhoe Service” from 1987 until his retirement in 2008. After retirement, he enjoyed supervising his son while he managed the family business, enjoyed riding on his tractors/backhoes, fishing, watching westerns and NBA basketball with his sweetheart. Every year, he looked forward to taking a cruise his family. He also loved being outside with his grandchildren and talking with his friends.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his five loving children: Robercena Cain of Columbia, South Carolina, Nicole Cain, Robert (Iris) Cain Jr., Ava Cain, and Kayanna Cain (Quinn Thomas) all of Bennettsville, South Carolina; one brother: Michael Cain; three sisters: Pernetha (Edward) McKiver, Florencena (Eddie) McLain, Reverend Lori (Joe) Moses; one brother-in-law, David (Patricia) McLaughlin of Clio, S.C., three sister-in-laws Martha Nell McLaughlin of Clio, S.C., Nancy Cain of Darlington, S.C., and Julia Cain of Bennettsville, S.C.; one aunt: Ethel Bruce of Brooklyn, New York; one special nephew, Sherman McLaughlin; eleven grandchildren: Jacinda Platt, Timyra Bradford, Trashon Cain, Trinity Baldwin, Garyon Fanning, Adorrie Cain, Aarin Smith, Icis McGuire, Kaylynn Thomas, Quionne York Jr., and Elijah Thomas; one great-grandson: JaRius Maggette; and two cousins/best friends Steve and Colin Bruce.
