Mrs. Rosa Lee Douglas was born the daughter of the Flora Ellen Chavis and Carnell Chavis on January 17, 1940 in Bennettsville, South Carolina. At an early age she accepted Christ at St. Marks Baptist Church. At the age of 21, she married Jack Douglas on July 5, 1961. She later joined the Greater St. James Missionary Baptist Church, World of Life Church and Break through Beyond the Walls Church. She attended Marlboro County Public Schools.
Mrs. Rosa Lee Douglas was known as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She loved cooking, shopping, eating and speaking her mind. She looked forward to going to New Jersey to visit with her children every summer. She was a woman that wore many hats.
Mrs. Rosa Lee Douglas was a hard worker. For a short period of time she worked in New York at Ross Lighting and for Swingline Corporation. In 1994 she relocated to Bennettsville South Carolina where she worked at Marlboro County Public School and as a Home Care Attendant.
Mrs. Rosa Lee Douglas is survived by her husband Jack Douglas, sisters, Mamie Pearson, Minnie Murray, Annabelle Chavis, her brother Alex Chavis sister-in-laws Helen Hayes and Mary Douglas and brother-in-law Robert Douglas Jr. She is proceeded in death by her brothers Robert Chavis, Herbert Chavis, Carnell Chavis Jr. and her sister Bessie Mae McCaster.
Left to cherish her memories are her seven children; Darrell Douglas, Jack Douglas, Jr., Felicia Gadsden, Kirk Douglas, Anthony Douglas, Beatrice Jackson (Leon Jackson) and Jamal Douglas. She also leaves to cherish eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren a host of nieces and nephews and her special friend Reverend Elizabeth Murray.
