Roxie Garner Obituary

Roxie Anna Garner, the daughter of the late Pete Mason and the late Odessa Mason was born September 28, 1939 in Scotland County.

She attended school in Marlboro County. Roxie attended the St. James Freewill Holiness Church where she gave her life to the Lord at an early age.

Roxie was married the late Edward Garner on December 14, 1952, and to this union thirteen children were born.

On June 1, 2020 at 6:00 p.m., she departed this life at Atrium Health in Pineville, NC.

She was preceded in death by her husband Mr. Edward Garner and three children; a grandson Alonzo Antwan Lampkin; a brother Lendon Mason and a sister, Minnie Pearl Mason.

Roxie leaves to cherish her memories her four sons, Mr. Albert Garner (Annie), Mr. Paul Garner (Clara), all from Bennettsville, SC, Mr. George Russell Garner (Kimberly) from Wallace, SC, Mr. Isaiah Garner (Emily) from Atlanta, GA; six daughters, Mrs. Anna Quick (Charles), Mrs. Odessa Grace (Ronnie), Mrs. Janice Smith (Dwayne) all from Bennettsville, SC, Mrs. Rosa Wright (Howard) from Fort Mills, SC, Mrs. Barbara Reed (Zachary), Mrs. Patricia Williams, all from Columbia, SC; two brothers, Danny Mason from Charlotte, NC, Calvin Mason from Laurinburg, NC; one sister, Lennie Mae Brown from Laurinburg, NC; three sisters-in-law, Apostle Nellie Mae McLeod from Bennettsville, SC, Minister Margaret McRae of Newark, NJ, and Janie Garner of Columbia, SC; thirty-seven grandchildren and app. Eighty great-grands and great-great grands. A host of relatives and friends and two special friends, Mrs. Janice Witherspoon Vaughn, and Mrs. Carolyn Midgely.
