Obituary

With profound sorrow we announce the passing of Shirley McIver who passed August 17, 2021 at her residence. A funeral service will be held Friday, August 20, 2021 at 12 pm at Bethea Funeral Home Chapel.

 

Shirley Verrette McIver was born on April 2, 1963, in Brooklyn, NY.

She was the daughter of the late Henry Jr. Green and Geraldine McIver. Shirley graduated from Lafayette High School in Brooklyn, NY. Shirley served in the United States Navy for three years as a Radioman.

After her time of serving, she worked as a correctional Officer at Evans Correctional Institution for seven years. A Security Officer at Marlboro Park Hospital and later became a Certified Nursing Assistant.

Shirley had skills as a hairdresser across Marlboro County.

In 2006 she was diagnosed with breast cancer and has fought for over 15 years.

Shirley leaves loving and cherishing memories to her two daughters: Tiana V. Morgan of Bennettsville, SC, and Astrina M. Morgan of Chesapeake, VA. Her two sons: Jerrette H. McIver of Bennettsville, SC and Jermaine M. McIver of Orangeburg, SC. Two granddaughters: Ivanna C.G. Holder of Bennettsville, SC, Ralaysha M. Covington of Chesapeake, VA. One grandson, Rashaad M. Covington of Chesapeake, VA. Her sisters: Renae Knight, Valerie Thomas and Aretha Poe (Perri Poe). Her two younger brothers: Gregory Green (Michelle) Green and Alfonso Green (Minnie Green) all of Bennettsville, SC. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, fellow service members, and friends who will Greatly Miss Her.
