On Tuesday, December 29, 2020, God saw best that an angel was ready to take her rest.
Shirley Ann Staton, better known as “Mudd” was born in Marlboro County on May 7, 1951. She was the daughter of the late Lethia and Duke Staton.
She was educated in the public schools of Marlboro County.
Shirley was employed in Bennettsville, SC at United Technology until they closed then she was later employed at Perdue Farms unit her health fail.
Early in life she accepted Christ as her Savior. She attended Goodwin Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church in McColl, SC where she was an active member of the Usher Board and the Adult Choir.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Lethia and Duke Staton; four sisters Viola Pearson, Nellie Staton, Retha Mae Dines, and Mae F. Staton; two brothers, Hervon Staton and JC Staton.
She leaves to cherish her loving and most precious memories: one daughter, Betty Hernandez (Juan) of Atlanta, GA; five sisters, Eula Stuckey and Sadie Staton both of Bennettsville, SC, Emma Spears of McColl, SC, Sue Staton of High Point, NC, Sheryl Quick (Larry) of Charlotte, NC; three brothers, Leroy Staton of Bishopville, SC, Hubert Quick of Bennettsville, and Earl Pearson (Peggy) of High Point, NC; three god daughters, Letha Adebiyi, Patrice Bethea, and Shakela Ingram; three god sons Olonzo Staton, Germaine Pearson and Tysheen Bears; her companion of the home, Robert Quick. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
