Sonya Manning Obituary

A private graveside service will be held Saturday, April 25, 2020 at 12pm at Word of Life Memorial Garden.

The service will be live streamed on the Bethea Funeral Home facebook page.

Mrs. Sonya Thomas Manning age 62, of Bennettsville, SC, departed this earthly life on Monday, April 20, 2020 at her residence. She was born in Marlboro County, SC. To the late Luther Thomas Sr. and Alphenia McKinnon Thomas.

She was converted at an early age and joined St. Paul Baptist Church in Bennettsville, S.C. later she became a member of The Sword of Truth in Bennettsville, SC.

Sonya was united in holy matrimony to James Milton Manning. They went on as a couple and received their Commercial Driver’s License in Orlando Florida. She loved to travel and spending time with her family, she felt like her car could outrun any car on the road. 

Sonya worked at Fruit of the Loom in Rockingham, NC until they closed down then later Retired from Wal-Mart in Laurinburg, NC.

She is reunited with her father and mother Luther Thomas Sr. and Alphenia Thomas and her sister, Elaine Thomas and brother Luther Thomas Jr. one grand-daughter Erica Maryauna Curry, one aunt Eloise Moore, one uncle Leroy McKinnon and Grandparents Mr. Alfred and Viola McKinnon.

Her family that she leaves behind to cherish her memories are: her husband James Milton Manning of the home, Three children daughter KaTashala (Eric) Curry of Bennettsville, SC, two sons Shawn (Tasha) Thomas of Laurinburg, NC and James Cintelle Manning of the home, six sisters her oldest and phone operator Roxanne McCullough , Rita (Leroy) Jackson, Mia (Frankie) Fletcher, Clarice  (Russell) Mungo, Shannon (Reggie) Lloyd all of Bennettsville, SC and Renata (Theodore) Horton of Charlotte, NC; two brothers Raymond (Tina) Thomas and Clifton Dale Thomas of Bennettsville, SC Three grandchildren Princess Erica Curry, Quavonne Thomas and Jamarius & Jaziah Manning; Mother-in-Law Lillie Mae Manning; five sister-in-laws and three brother-in-laws and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Her cousin Betty Jean Bruce visits and sat with her often.
