William O'Neil Obituary

Mr. William O’Neil, Jr. was born September 27, 1940 in Marlboro County to the late Mary Lou Stackhouse O’Neil and the late William O’Neil, Sr.

He was converted at an early age and joined Spears United Methodist Church. He received his educational training in the Clio Community of Marlboro County and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1960.

William worked at Galey & Lord until he retired. After retirement, he devoted most of his time with his family and friends. William loved working in his garden as well. Before and after the merge of Spears United Methodist Church to Trinity he served as a faithful member of the Usher Board, where he also served as the president for many years.

William was married to his loving and devoted wife Pearlie for 57 years. To this union they were blessed with two children. He was preceded in death by his son, William Myron O’Neil, and daughter Elizabeth Ann Murphy. A brother Earnest O’Neil

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Pearlie, his daughter Terri O’Neil of the home. Seven grandchildren: Meiosa Dupree, Myesha White of Clio, SC, Zion McRae of Cheraw, SC, Shiquita and Devin Galloway of Florence, SC, Dohnavan Murphy and Dorrien Murphy all of Clio, SC. A adopted grandson, Camias McRae of Bennettsville, SC. Two siblings, Alice Parnell (Levance) of High Point, NC, and Willie Mae O’Neil of Richmond, VA. Two aunts, Eula Hamer of Washington, DC, and Flora McLaughlin of Dillon, SC. Five sisters-in-law, Carrie Funderburk (Marion), Mary McCollum (Samuel) and Gwendolyn McArthur all of Clio, SC, Rosa O’Neil of Bennettsville, SC and Marie Covington of Clio, SC. A special lifelong best friend, Mr. Leroy Woods. A host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
