Glendora Covington

Glendora “Dobie” Munnerlyn Easterling Covington was born on September 21, 1953 to the late Edward Lee Easterling and Mary Ella Munnerlyn Easterling in Bennettsville, SC. She was raised by John L. and Gladys Easterling. She departed her life on Friday, December 2, 2016 at McLeod Health in Cheraw, SC.

Dobie attended the public schools in Marlboro County. She earned her GED from Marlboro County Adult Education. Dobie received Christ as her savior in her youth and years joined St. Paul Baptist Church. In her early years, she was employed at Essex Wire. She wa an excellent seamstress and artist. She had a love for puzzles, fishing, but her passion was Bingo. Dobie was very direct but always greeted you with a smile.

She was formerly married to Nathaniel “Pookie” Covington Sr.; to this union six children were born.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Nathaniel Covington, Sr.; son, Wendell M. Covington and four brothers.

Glendora’s memories will forever be cherished by four daughters: Gla’Shanda M. (Charles “Happy Jack”) McRae, Grishelda N. (Larone) Covington, Tayrn N. (Roosevelt “Buddy) Miles all of Bennettsville, SC, Torrica N. (Albert) Covington of Georgia. One son, Nathaniel Covington, Jr. of Bennettsville, SC. Her siblings: Everlina (Michael) Cox of Brooklyn, NY, Barbara Williams, and Blondell Easterling Streater both of Bennettville, SC, Johnnie Mae Douglas of Bennettsville, SC, Madgelene (Thomas) McNeil and Kennedy Easterling of Georgia. Her granddaughters: Shyvanda, Shaunya, Dawanna, Kitiara, Latovia, and Tahajalla. Her grandsons: Richard, Ricky, Ro’Quan, Ro’Nathan, Larone, and Ja’Siah. Four great granddaughters: Skylar, Barryana, Londyn, and Terrani, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A special daughter Sherrell Wright.
