Joyce York

Joyce Elaine Robinson York, daughter of Lillie Mae David and the late Gilford Robinson,was born January 8, 1962 in Bennettsville SC. After a brief illness, our loved one was called home July 30, 2011.

Joyce received her educational training in the Marlboro County School System.

At an early age,Joyce received Christ as her Saviour and joined St. Paul Baptist Church in Bennettsville, SC.

"Bay" as she was known among family and friends never met a stranger. She had a very warm and caring spirit, loved and cherished her family,with a plethora of love for her grandchildren.

She was proceeded in death by her grandmother Jency Liles, father Gilford Robinson, sister Lydia Robinson and niece, Kimberly Robinson.

Left to cherish beautiful memories are her husband Curtiss York; daughters Tasheka Robinson, Curtina Robinson and Kasha York, all of Bennettsville, SC; mother Lillie David, Step father George David  of Bennettsville, SC; three brothers Edward Charles (Carlena) Smith, Rev. James (Tawanka) Smith of Bennettsville, SC and George David of Rock Hill, SC; three sisters, Patricia Ocean of Camden, SC, Gilla Robinson of Columbia, SC and Gwendolyn (Lee Curtis) Townsend of Bennettsville, SC; two uncles, Daniel and James (Debra) Lloyd of Brooklyn, NY; the gems of her heart, five grandchildren Zhaniah Douglas, Jah'kyah Robinson, Anthony Douglas, Braylin Wilson and Kaleah York all of Bennettsville, SC; four nieces, nine nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life will held Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at 1PM at Greater St. James Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Ideal Cemetery.
