Shannel Monique Alford

February 13, 1968 ~ March 23, 2017 (age 49) 49 Years Old

Shannel Monique Alford, affectionately known as snail entered this world on February 13, 1968 to the late Vernell (Stephanie) Joyner and Regina Alford. Shannel was blessed to have a second father, the late James “Koota” Bostic.

Shannel was educated in the public schools of Brooklyn NY. She loved children and was a mentor with the N.Y.C Parks and Recreation Department. She also coached dance and cheerleading. Shannel moved from Brooklyn NY to Bennettsville SC in 2007. She became a member of Word of Life Christian Center, where she accepted Christ and was baptized. Throughout her failing health, she continued to be our “Dancing Diva” and remained full of life and energy. Her overwhelming addictive spirit, kind heart and generosity made her utterly loved by everyone who came in contact with her.

Shannel was preceded in death by both of her fathers, her paternal and maternal grandparents, and aunt Nancy “Snooks” Scantlebury.

She leaves to cherish her memory: Her loving mother: Regina Alford of Clio SC; Three daughters, Lacoyia (Gary) Bostic of McColl SC, Shaquana Alford of Bennettsville SC, and Shaquiera Alford of Charlotte NC; Two grandchildren, Demetris M. Allen and Deyonna J. Grant of Charlotte NC; Six sisters, Bernadette Bostic Jacobs of Woodbridge NJ, Khadijah (Anthony) Hicks, Kim Warrick, Tamara Joyner of Brooklyn NY, Tavoya Alford of Clio SC, Lavonia Joyner of Brooklyn NY; Three brother, Vaughn Alford, Courtney Posley, and Josef Joyner of Brooklyn NY; Three aunts, Gloria Warrick of Dillon SC, Claudia Grice of Alexander VA, and Katrina Joyner of Brooklyn NY; One uncle Darryl (Gaynell) Joyner of Atlanta GA; A very special friend, Kenneth “Kemo” Coachman, who stayed by her side through the good and bad days until the very end; 24 nieces and nephews, and a host of great nieces, nephews and other relatives.

The family is receiving friends at 606 Center Street, Apt. C3, Bennettsville.
