May Retha Southerland daughter of the late Della Mae Williams and John Wesley Southerland, was born August 14, 1959 in Marlboro County, SC. She departed this life February 4, 2017 in High Point, NC.
She attended and graduated from the public schools of Marlboro County.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, John L. Southerland and Billy Joe Southerland.
She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter: Rene Southerland of Laurinburg, NC; one son: Eric Southerland of High Point, NC; six grandchildren: Qua’Teria Rashad, Ric’Kasia I’Niah Southerland and Rickzavaian Alexander Southerland all of Laurinburg, NC, Ezekiel Pouncy, Eric Southerland Jr., Eriana Sateasha Southerland and Eriel Shanae Southerland all of High Point, NC; one sister: Dianne Hayes of Laurinburg, NC; one step-sister: Carol (Fred) Gaffney of Charlotte, NC; four brothers: Willie Williams of Manhattan, New York, Curtis Lee Southerland of Winston Salem, NC, Melvin Southerland of High point, NC and John (Shenetta) Southerland of Greensboro, NC; a special niece Felicia Southerland Sinkler and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
